How do I become a member?
Joining is easy and you can join any time! Sign up on our JOIN PAGE, or download THIS FORM. The annual cost to be apart of the organization is $45.00 annually. For new members, that amount is prorated by quarter when you join in the middle of the year.
What does membership include?
The SWA - SJV has monthly art demos hosted at the DOOR ART GALLERY. In addition, the organization has several art shows per year, two of which are juried. You also get the opportunity to participate in shows hosted by the San Bruno chapter for the whole organization. We also coordinate plein aire painting excursions as well as “paint-ins” when the weather does not permit.
What is the Signature Award Program
The SWA SIGNATURE AWARD PROGRAM gives the right for the artist to append SWA to their signature on artwork. It is an indication of the consistent and successful mastery of art through their participation in SWA shows. Here is how each member can earn the SWA Signature.
In addition to the 150 points required, the artist must also be accepted into 2 SWA San Francisco Annual Major Exhibits
150 Points total
5 points for acceptance in a show
6 points for Honorable Mention Award (which includes the 5 points for acceptance)
8 points for 3rd place Award (which includes the 5 points for acceptance)
10 points for 2nd Place Award (which includes the 5 points for acceptance)
12 points for 1st Place Award (which includes the 5 points for acceptance)
15 points for Best of Show in reg. show (which includes the 5 points for acceptance)
Major Exhibits
30 points for SF Chapter, SWA Annual Exhibit (no additional points for awards)
15 points for San Joaquin Valley Chapter Annual Exhibit (no additional points for awards)
10 points for Special Designated SWA Exhibits
How can I pay for my membership?
You can pay online HERE. If you prefer, you can send us a check, cash, or money order. Our address is P.O. Box 3742, Pinedale CA 93650 or bring it to our next event!
Where does the SWA - SJV meet?
Our gracious friends at the DOOR ART GALLERY allow us to use their space for art demos, paint-ins, and other events. The DOOR ART GALLERY is located at 3073 W. Bullard, Fresno CA 93711 on the corner of Bullard and Marks.
How do I participate in local shows?
The location for art drop off is generally the location of the show. (See the EVENTS page for details on each individual show.) Complete THIS FORM for each piece you wish to submit. Not all shows have entry fees, but if they do, they are generally per piece submitted. If you are unable to drop off your artwork at the place and time indicated for the show, please coordinate with Jesus. We will work with you to get your art in the show!
How do I participate in the San Bruno shows?
Learn more about our parent organization HERE! To participate in the San Bruno shows, you must submit a photo of your artwork and the entry fee using ENTRYTHINGY. You will be notified via email if your painting was selected to be in the show. Jesus is available to coordinate transportation of artwork to their show.

Check out our EVENTS page! We have all the details, dates, times, locations. We hope to see you at one of our events! Our general schedule is the 4th Saturday of each month at the DOOR ART GALLERY. However, these days will change to accommodate holidays and we always pause all events for the month of August.
