April Artifacts

Members,

I hope this note finds you all well and busy being creative. I wanted to review with you about the April and May. Also, I wanted to introduce a new tool that we can use to reach out to our members.

Please plan on attending the April 22nd Demo at the Door Art Gallery. Our presenter will be Diane Breuer, an amazing artist from Fresno. She will review developing and finalizing a composition. I would like to see our members get together this month. We have an exhibition during May. It will be held at the Fresno Arts Council Gallery; Monday, May 1st will be the delivery date at the Council Gallery (10-12). The Fresno Arts Council is located on 1245 Van Ness Ave (Downtown Fresno). If you would like to arrange a special time for your art delivery please call me, I want to help if possible. We will celebrate our show with an ArtHop on May 4th (5-8), I hope to see you there.

I am pleased to announce the creation of the SWA-San Joaquin Valley Website. Along with the Newsletter, the website will help us reach out to members, supporters, and possibly new members. To reach the website, use your phone or computer, and type: swasjvc.com to reach the homepage. When you visit our website, you will be able review our calendar, past programs or upcoming Art Demo.

I want to thank, Member Alexandra Lauber for her amazing work in the development of the website. Developments like the newsletter and website are helping SWA-SJVC move forward and reach out to our community.

Thanks,

Jesus Sepulveda, President, SWA-SJVC

Coming Up

This month at The Door Gallery, we have scheduled Diane Breuer to demonstrate pastel paintings. She would like to show how to do a very quick, simple pastel, using a limited palette. It will be a landscape involving a rushing river. This will be a good example for artists when doing studio as well as plein air work.

"I have been painting since I was very young, as soon as I could hold a pencil. I was lucky to take art classes as we travelled and lived around the world. Even though I started off in watercolor and oils, I discovered pastels in 1987 and became hooked.

"It's been a long journey from simple papers and pastels to fabulous hand made pastels and sanded papers and boards. I loved to paint portraits but recently I was able to go plein air painting all across California and found this to be a new passion. I have painted in Brazil, India, and Vietnam, but find that my own back yard is such a jewel, just waiting to be explored and painted.”
